Police official walks free from court after stalking mistress
A SENIOR police official who stalked his former mistress after she dumped him avoided a jail sentence today.

Married Nick Harverson, 58, targeted Charlotte Roberts in a month-long campaign of revenge.
The pair had an 18-month fling after meeting at Thames Valley Police HQ in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.
Harverson was head of corporate support and Ms Roberts was assistant to the Police and Crime Commissioner.

After the break-up, Harverson sent her unwanted texts, a “nasty” letter branding her “evil” and turned up at her home, Oxford magistrates court heard.
In an emotional impact statement, Ms Roberts said Harverson’s stalking campaign has wrecked her life.
She is now receiving counselling for anxiety and depression.

She said: “I am constantly on alert and I fear he might turn up.”
Last month, Harverson, of Cassington, Oxfordshire, was found guilty of stalking between November and December last year.
He was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work, pay £2,500 prosecution costs plus a £85 victim surcharge.

He was also banned from having any contact with Ms Roberts or for visiting the street where she lives for five years.
Ms Roberts said that during the trial Harverson gave details of their relationship and claimed she was seeing other people.

She said: “I feel like I have a reputation as a sexual beast. I was not seeing other men.
“My reputation has been tarnished. I despise him. I rue the day we met.”
