Finsbury Park inquest: Grandfather killed in the attack was alive when van struck
A GRANDFATHER was killed when he was hit by a van in the terror attack at Finsbury Park Mosque, an inquest heard today.
Makhram Ali died from multiple injuries after a van crashed into a group of people in north London
Makram Ali, 51, suffered multiple injuries when a rented Citroen ploughed into a group of worshippers going home after midnight prayers.
Mr Ali had briefly collapsed after suffering what a police officer called a “medical episode”.
But he was sitting up and recovering when the white van was driven at the group outside the north London mosque.

Nine other men were injured in the attack in the early hours of Monday, June 19, St Pancras Coroners Court was told.
Detective Inspector Edwin Hall said: “It is believed Mr Ali suffered a medical episode.
“Witnesses described him as panting and with his eyes half open.
“Those present were wearing traditional Muslim dress and would have been easily recognisable as members of the Muslim community.
“Mr Ali was alive when he was struck by the vehicle and his death was caused by multiple injuries.”
Mr Ali came to the UK from Bangladesh when he was 10
The officer added: “It is assessed that this is a terrorist-related murder and is currently being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.”
Mr Ali, of Haringey, north London, had suffered from a weak leg which caused him to collapse after leaving the mosque.
A devoted father and grandfather, he came to the UK from Bangladesh aged 10 and was married with four daughters, two sons and two grandchildren.

Coroner Mary Hassell adjourned the inquest.

The 47-year-old, from Cardiff, is charged with killing Mr Ali and the attempted murder of others at the scene.
