I’m going to make sure that along with the 13 MPs, we make sure that we deliver for Scotland and that the Union delivers for Scotland too
Many insiders say Ms Davidson’s stunning turnaround of a party up until recently thought of as “toxic” here will see her prevail.
Speaking in Stirling over the weekend with her party’s new MPs, Ms Davidson said: “I’m going to make sure that along with the 13 MPs, we make sure that we deliver for Scotland and that the Union delivers for Scotland too.”

Asked what she meant by an “open Brexit”, Ms Davidson replied: “I’ve never believed in the terms of hard or soft Brexit. I want to talk about open or closed – and, believing in open politics, that’s about tearing down barriers, not putting them up.
“It’s about making sure we put free trade and economic advancement at the heart of the Brexit deal.”
