Jeremy Corbyn aide calls Islamic terrorists ‘freedom fighters’
A LEADING supporter of Jeremy Corbyn has sparked outrage by describing Islamic terrorists as “freedom fighters”.
Barbara Ntumy helped Mr Corbyn launch his Race and Faith manifesto last week
Barbara Ntumy, who helped Mr Corbyn launch his Race and Faith manifesto last week, tweeted: “One mans jihadist/terrorist is another mans freedom fighter #JustSaying.”
The comment was made in July 2014, after a Taliban suicide bomber blew up 17 people in Afghanistan.
I absolutely 100 per cent condemn terrorism
Ms Ntumy said: “I absolutely 100 per cent condemn terrorism.”
However there were concerns that the National Union of Students (NUS) activist was likening genuine freedom fighters like Nelson Mandela with the Islamist mass murderers behind the London Bridge, Manchester and Westminster terror attacks.
Ms Ntumy made the comment in July 2014
Hard Left activists who have taken over the NUS have embarrassed the Labour Party.
The election of NUS president Malia Bouattia saw several university organisations quit the Union over her previous comments on Jews and Israel which have been described as anti-Semitic.
Despite the controversy and her refusal to apologise Ms Bouattia was allowed to take part in the Labour Party conference last autumn.
