These arrests came just days before the tragic Manchester bombing on the night of May 22 which left 22 people dead and injured more 75.
Police have not said whether these latest arrests were connected to the Monday night attack.
In the past few days, counterterrorism police in the north of the country have conducted raids in the Manchester area.
Eight arrests were made over alleged connection to the Manchester bombing including the suicide bomber’s 23-year-old brother Ismail Abedi.
A Whitehall source has said that 18 terror plots have been foiled since 2013, including five since March’s Westminster attack where four people were killed.
