Exchanging her power suits and kitten heels for a hi-vis vest and walking boots, the PM joined other volunteers to direct runners towards the finish line.
But she may have unintentionally slowed some of the participants down rather than helped them along their way, as many runners stopped to pose for a picture with the Prime Minister, momentarily forgetting any attempts to beat their personal bests.

Ever since becoming MP for Maidenhead in 1997, Mrs May, 60, has volunteered as a marshall at the annual Maidenhead Easter 10, a 10-mile race organised by the local athletic club.
Mrs May made sure she blended in with her fellow marshalls in a blue anorak, black trousers and sensible outdoor footwear as she cheerfully posed for pictures with runners.

The race, which has been running for 64 years, will donate all its proceeds to People to Places, a charity that provides transport to disabled people in Maidenhead.
Over 1,000 participants set off at 9.30am on Good Friday to take on the multi-terrain circuit, which covers pavements, country lanes and cycleways along its route.
Linda McQuaid, a member of the Watford Joggers running club, posted a picture of her and two fellow runners with the PM this morning, writing that they enjoyed a “pre-race chat”.
