‘All they want is our MONEY!' Question Time audience member urges UK to IGNORE Brexit bill
AN audience member on Question Time blasted the European Union (EU)’s demand for a Brexit bill - which could be as much as £50bn - saying the UK should ignore it as the “world is watching”.
Question Time audience member: The EU just want our MONEY
The audience guest said all the Brussels bloc wanted “is our money” and the demand was another reason why Britain should leave the union.
The EU has yet to reveal the final amount that will be called for but European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has said it would be “hefty”.
Speaking on Question Time on the BBC, the audience guest insisted the UK should leave without paying.
A Question Time audience member said "all" the EU wanted was the UK's "money"
We need to get out the EU, all they want is our money
He said: “The world is watching what we’re doing at the moment and they’re going to be looking at us and thinking ‘look what they’re making the UK do by paying this massive bill’.
“We should get out. Look at how bureaucratic the EU is, they’re trying to treat us like this. We need to get out the EU, all they want is our money when we’re not seeking any form of benefit. “
An ICM/Guardian online poll reveals almost two thirds of voters would find it “unacceptable” for Britain to pay a so-called Brexit bill of £10 billion or more.
The poll of 2,005 adults will reinforce Prime Minister Theresa May’s resolve not to pay any “divorce” bill.
Most estimates have indicated that the Brexit bill would be in the region of £50bn although Government ministers have indicated that this would just be an opening bid.
Failure to reach compromise over the bill could delay - or even scupper - talks over a future free trade agreement between the European Union and UK.
