'It’s PEANUTS!’ Royal Navy veteran BLASTS Remainer over EU spending in Wales
A ROYAL navy veteran hit out at a Remainer saying the EU’s contribution to Wales has been “peanuts” and the bloc was not the “be-all and end-all”.
'It's PEANUTS!': Navy veteran blasts EU funding in Wales
Speaking in Cardiff on All Out Politics on Sky News, the veteran disagreed with delicatessen owner Steven Salamon who said the country had been “regenerated” by the Brussels.
Mr Salamon argued Wales had been “completely subsidised” and regenerated by EU funding.
But Harry Cozens described the comments as “codswallop” as he slammed the union’s contribution.
He said: “No, I disagree with that. Largely it's funded by the EU? That’s a bit of codswallop. The maximum funds we’ve had over the last 60-70 years from the EU is about £5 million a year.

If you and try and say the EU is the be-all and end-all of everything, it’s not
“Now if you spread £5 million a year over the whole of Wales, it’s peanuts.
“It is better than nothing and once we get rid of this Barnett formula, we get a better thing from London or we go our own way.

Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones has sent a stark warning to Theresa May, urging her to hand more powers to Cardiff during Brexit negotiations.
Mr Jones has demanded that more powers are devolved to the Welsh government in return for support for keeping the UK together.
Figures last year showed the UK contributes nearly one fifth of the EU’s overall net budget and coughed up 32 billion euros in net contributions to the European Union over a five year period.
