Andrew Neil GRILLS Campbell who claims Brexit 'can be stopped'
The former Labour spin doctor said he was not in a “minority” who believe Britain “should” be prevented from leaving the European Union.
During a shameless attack on the referendum result, Mr Campbell declared he believed Britain’s decision to quit the bloc “can, will and must” be reversed.
Appearing on BBC’s This Week, he said: “I accept I’m in a minority when I say Brexit can be stopped.
“But, I don’t believe I am in a minority in saying it should be stopped. I don’t know what the mechanism is going to be, but I believe it can happen, I believe it will happen and I believe it must happen.”

I believe stopping Brexit can happen, I believe it will happen and I believe it must happen
The show’s host was quick to jump on his claims, quizzing Mr Campbell over their legitimacy.
“What is the evidence a majority want to stop it,” Neil said. “Where did you get that from!?”
When the former Labour communications director suggested it was based on his “instinct”, Neil blast: “That’s not evidence!”
Elaborating on his point, Mr Campbell added his viewpoints were formed from meetings he had held across the country in the wake of the EU referendum last June.

“People are overwhelmingly pessimistic about Brexit, utterly pessimistic about Trump and most people think Jeremy Corbyn hasn’t got a hope in hell,” he added.
Neil, keen to continue the challenge, responded: “Your meetings are anecdotes, and not just polls but proper economic surveys – for example, consumer spending – don’t show people are pessimistic at all, otherwise they wouldn’t be spending.
“I just don’t see – you can be for or against it, but the idea there is a majority in this country gagging to stop Brexit…
“You’ve become delusional!”
Concluding his argument, Mr Campbell branded the Government “delusional” for promising to be able to negotiate a deal within the two-year Article 50 period.
He continued: “Because we don’t have the opposition we have had a situation where even since the referendum we’ve gone from definitely staying in the single market but now we’re out, we’ll definitely be in the customs union now we’re out…”
Claiming Boris Johnson had said Britain would remain within the EU’s single market, Neil rebuked insisting he had “tapes” of the Foreign Secretary saying the opposite during the referendum campaign.
Neil concluded: “You are rewriting history Alastair, he’s on the record as saying we would have to leave the single market!”
