Sky News host hammers SNP MP for 'RUINING' Brexit negotiations with Scottish referendum
AN SNP MP was left squirming during a TV roasting over a second Scottish independence referendum “ruining” Theresa May’s Brexit negotiations.
SNP MP rebuked for 'ruining Brexit negotiations' with independence bid
Angus Robertson endorsed Nicola Sturgeon’s plan to ask the Scottish Parliament for permission to request a Section 30 order from Westminster – which is required to allow a referendum to be held.
Speaking to Sky News, the politician insisted “people will vote for independence” before he was lambasted by the reporter.
The SNP deputy leader said: “I believe if the option is a hard Tory Brexit outside the EU – potentially WTO rules – or a Scotland still connected within a wider European context and the kind of values of a modern moderate country – as opposed to an, unfortunately, a UK which is heading very fast right.
“I think the choice will be pretty stark and clear and people will vote for independence.”

Sturgeon: It's time for me to be decisive about Scotland's future
She does actually want many of the same ends that you want through a different method and you’re just ruining her opportunity to negotiate
The journalist hit back and said Mrs May “does actually want many of the same ends” as the SNP before accusing the party of wanting to “ruin” the Prime Minister’s Brexit strategy.
He blasted: “You haven’t given the PM a chance – the PM has said that she wants a deal with access to the single market, she does actually want many of the same ends that you want through a different method and you’re just ruining her opportunity to negotiate.
“The Germans and the French in Brussels are going to be saying ‘well hang on we don’t need to give you anything now because you’re going to break up the union’ – is that your plan?”
Mr Robertson proceeded to defend his party, which plans to hold a referendum between Autumn next year and Spring 2019.
Mr Robertson accused Theresa May of not giving the SNP any assurances over Brexit
He said: “North Korea’s got access to the single European market – we’re not just wanting access we’re wanting membership, we’re wanting to be part of it, not have some deal organised on our behalf by Boris Johnson et al – it’s not serious.
“Suggesting the Prime Minister has answered these questions or queries – I’m sorry feel free to look back at all the questions that I’ve asked at Prime Minister’s questions – to get assurance to get reassurance, I’m sorry there has been none whatsoever.”
During her speech on Monday, Mrs Sturgeon said she will give Scots a “real choice" between Brexit and leaving the UK in a second vote on independence.
Defending her plans, she said: “Our plan to protect Scotland’s interests. Right now Scotland stands at a hugely important crossroads.
“We did not choose to be in this position and I wish that we were not in this position but we are and the stakes are high. We must have a plan for the way forward."
