STORM DORIS: Woman dies as winds RIP OFF shop front in Wolverhampton
STORM Doris has left one woman dead in Wolverhampton after being hit with falling debris when high winds ripped off a shop front.
Woman DIES after storm-related incident in Wolverhampton
Police have sealed off part of Wolverhampton City centre after rushing to the scene.
Officers received 15 calls for help, at around 11:43am this morning.
The ambulance service said they were dealing with a "serious incident" in the centre.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: “On arrival, crews found a woman who had suffered very serious head injuries.
“Sadly, it quickly became apparent that there was nothing that could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.”
Police have now confirmed the woman died.
Witnesses at the scene said the shopfront, or part of it, had fallen off.
Nearby Queen Square has been closed off.
