A BRITISH teenager has died after falling from a balcony of a high rise apartment in Australia.

The victim, who has not yet been named, was an 18-year-old man who had moved into an inner city apartment in Sydney.
Police said that he fell to his death from the 16th floor balcony in Pyrmont at 3.30am on Saturday morning.
New South Wales police said that the man had been drinking alcohol and partying with friends shortly before he fell from the flat.

His friends told police that he had gone out onto the balcony to "chill out" and then fell over.
Neighbours rushed to give him first aid after he fell from the building.
Acting Inspector Peter Northey said that investigators will carry out a post-mortem to determine if he was drunk when he fell.
The police will also investigate whether the man fell as a result of "misadventure.'"

Inspector Peter Northey said: “They [the flatmates] had gone to their respective parts of the apartment and he was chilling on the balcony and the next thing they know, they’ve heard a noise and saw him fall.
“The flatmate who saw it happen has raised the alarm and they’ve all run down and one has begun CPR.
“At this stage it is very early in the investigation, but we are thinking misadventure.
“He had been consuming alcohol earlier in the night, but we don’t know his level of intoxication.”
Paul Rowatt, one of the man’s friends said: “I heard the thud."

“I went down to see what happened and saw the guy laying there with blood coming out of his mouth.
“His friends were trying to help him, giving him CPR. He was very still.”
The man had been living in Australia on a working tourist visa.
His family in the UK have been notified of his death.
A police investigation is ongoing.
