Top gear dog who won fans' hearts due to being terrified of cars is dead
THE Top Gear dog who won fans’ hearts by appearing on the show despite her terror of cars has died.
The Hammonds' dog TG has died age 11 after being the official Top Gear dog in 2006
TG the labradoodle was at Richard Hammond’s side when he recovered from his 2006 high speed car crash and lived with the Hammonds after finishing her stint on the show.
She had been unveiled as the official Top Gear dog that year, although she only made a few appearances, because, as Hammond revealed: “She’s completely terrified of cars, they make her quite ill, which is unfortunate.”
During one episode, she was sick in a car, and Hammond cleaned up after her. But it didn’t put him off adopting her.

This is a gap that can never be filled
She died last week at the Hammond home, aged 11, said Richard’s wife Mindy. She said: “This is a gap that can never be filled; a woolly bear whose hugs can never be replaced. Our darling TG is with us no more.
“I have owned many dogs and loved them all but none have I ever loved like TG.”
Mindy Hammond said that TG stayed by Richard's bedside after his accident 11 years ago
She added: “After Richard had his accident TG was with him when he was recovering, always desperate to lie next to his bed, her tail wagging incessantly and often waking him while he was trying to sleep.
“She couldn’t help herself – her joy at being reunited had to be demonstrated.”
