A DOCTOR shed more than five stone after placing a bet with bookmakers that she could do it in a year.
Dr Collins placed a £50 bet with William Hill at 50-1 odds
Dr Libby Collins, 37, repeatedly tried fad diets to lose weight but all ended in disaster. After one diet, she even gained a stone.
So the Sheffield GP looked for a new way to lose some of her 18 stone. Dr Collins approached bookies William Hill last January and bet £50, at 50-1, that she could shed at least 70lb in a year.
Now she has scooped £2,500 after slimming down to 12st 9lb – a loss of 75lb.

I would snack on high-sugar foods or say I needed a takeaway to feel better
She said: “I was ‘the fat GP', getting lots of migraines and finding stress harder to deal with. I would snack on high-sugar foods or say I needed a takeaway to feel better.
“So instead I did a minimum of 10,000 steps every day and cut out unhealthy snacks.” She has been supported by her librarian husband Peter, 38, and their children Winifred, six, and Humphrey, two.
William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: “We’re now almost performing a service for the NHS.”
