Old Saint Nick made his first appearance in Kentmere against the stunning backdrop of the Northern Lights.
He was papped by eagle-eyed photographer Michael Scott who was admiring the stunning horizon.
Mr Scott, from Birmingham, said: "I like to think of it as Father Christmas doing a dry run.

"You don't want to go out on the night and take the wrong turn or miss a child, best do a practice run first!"
The 32-year-old added: "It was so dark, windy and cold but strangely peaceful.
"I did catch the waves of the aurora over the hills and they looked magical, something I never thought I would see so vividly!"
