Police lockdown London street as they swoop on 'man with gun'
A LONDON street has been placed in lockdown as police swooped following reports of a ‘man with a gun’.
Police line the street in DANGEROUS Brixton stand-off
Dumbarton Road in Brixton has been cordoned off and nearby homes evacuated as a precaution, as officers entered into stand-off with the occupant.
The Metropolitan Police were called to the scene just before 6.30am this morning, after receiving reports from a member of the public that a man was "seen to be in possession of what looked like a firearm".
Police cars line the residential street as they spoke to the man inside the house, Scotland Yard said.
Armed officers have also been drafted to the scene.
The road has been cordoned off as the siege continues
Neighbour Claudio Coluna: “We got a knock on the door and a police officer told us we needed to get out because they had reports a man was hanging out of his window with a gun.
“I’m not sure how much police was there but it was a lot with a few vans and officers on the roof.”
We are still at the incident in Dumbarton Rd #Brixton. No-one is injured, and we appreciate everyones patience whilst it continues.

The 32-year-old told the Standard: “Other residents in our block of flats were told to leave and we haven’t been informed when we can return.”
One passerby described the scene as “madness”.
Another took to twitter and posted: “Barricaded man with a gun at #Brixton New Park Road.”
A spokesman from the Met added they did not think anyone else was inside the house.
The road, near to Brixton prison, has been cordoned off as the siege continues.

Two police vans and an ambulance are said have been drafted to the scene, spotted from a nearby road as traffic is also affected by the ongoing incident.
There have been no reports of any injuries.
Transport for London (TfL) confirmed one lane on Brixton hill going northbound, near the scene, remained closed after an ‘earlier police incident’.
They warned motorists traffic was slow moving past the scene.
