A Muslim-owned Turkish restaurant is opening its doors to give free festive meals to the elderly this Christmas Day.

The Kent restaurant is part of the Community Christmas charity scheme, intended to ensure no one is left alone on December 25.
A range of different restaurants, from Caribbean to Indian and also McDonalds, are taking part.
They will keep their doors open on the big day and some will be serving free meals.

Turkish restaurant Shish in Sidcup, south east London, will be serving soup, casseroles and rice pudding on Christmas Day.
The owner of the restaurant stuck a hand-written poster in the window, which read: “No one eats alone on a Christmas Day! We are here to sit with you. "
Other restaurants involved include the Ali Raj Indian restaurant in Margate, Kent, and Cummin Up, a Caribbean restaurant, in Lewisham, south east London.
McDonald's has told the charity that 54 of its branches will be open on Christmas Day
This year the charity has broken its own record with more than 550 events registered.
