‘You were asleep!’ Roommate furious when friends left him to flee New Zealand earthquake
THE worst flatmates in the world may have been revealed after they "fled to the hills" to escape a massive earthquake and tsunami in New Zealand - but failed to wake their friend up before they left.
Man slams flatmates after they left him during tsunami
Shocked Tyler Bowry was walking to his Christchurch flat when the earth beneath his feet started "violently shaking and going round in huge circles" as the monster 7.5-magnitude quake struck on Monday.
When it stopped he went into his flat, which he shares with four others, and took himself off to bed, only to wake up and discover something that made his blood boil.
His landlord, Andy, had sent him a text in the night saying: "A tsunami has hit. Get in your cars and get away from the coast and up to the hills. Just be safe."
He sprinted out of his room to alert his flatmates but it transpired they had already left in the middle of the night and not bothered to wake him up.

Like being asleep makes you exempt from a f****** tsunami
Tyler, 26, said: "I thought that wasn't the type of text you wanted to miss. Obviously when I woke up I wasn't swimming so I realised the tsunami hadn't actually reached us but I was still fuming.
"I confronted my flatmate, Jonathan, a mild-mannered bloke from Belgium, and he said 'well we did knock on your door but you were asleep'.
"They must have knocked pretty bloody quietly. What were they thinking? ‘Oh, we'll leave a lilo under his mattress and let him ride this one out?’
"Like being asleep makes you exempt from a f****** tsunami!
"They were up in the hills for several hours while I lay asleep in bed, blissfully unaware that my roommates happily left me to slowly sink into a watery grave."

People were told to run for the hills amid fears a tsunami would wipe out parts of New Zealand
Two people died and thousands were left stranded after the quake, with dozens more injured.
Tyler, from Gibraltar, is in New Zealand to help clear up the devastation from the 2010 Christchurch earthquake, which peaked at 7.1 on the richter scale and flattened several miles of the city.
The avid rugby fan was so enraged he made a video about his flatmates' apparent lack of care for his wellbeing.
He has since calmed down and claims to have forgiven his roommates, saying: "Yeh, it's all water off a bloke's back at the end of the day isn't it?"
