The Ministry of Defence (MoD) revealed the typhoon fighter jet activity after Russian military aircraft flew in a “UK area of interest” under the cover of darkness on October 12 and four days later.
Quick reaction alert Typhoon jets were scrambled by the Royal Air Force Lossiemouth, near Elgin, Scotland.
It is understood they were supported by Voyagers from Brize Norton.
