Murder probe after woman, 24, found dead in Gateshead
A MURDER investigation has been launched after the body of a young woman was found in Gateshead.
The woman was pronounced dead the at the scene
Police found the 24-year-old with serious injures at an address in Rawlings Road after concerns were raised for her welfare at around 6.30pm yesterday.
The woman, who had had previous contact with police, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Northumbria Police said a 25-year-old man known to the victim had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The woman's next of kin have been informed but she has not been named.
Detectives investigating the circumstances of the death said they believe it was an isolated incident as they carried out house-to-house inquiries.
Due to the woman's previous contact with police the case has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission "as a matter of course", police said.
