'STITCH UP' Cameron accused of cronyism AGAIN as aide is made favourite for former seat
DAVID Cameron has been accused of cronyism again after it was revealed his former aide was made favourite to replace him as MP for his seat in Witney.
David Cameron is facing fresh cronyism allegations
Natasha Whitmill was awarded an OBE in the former Prime Minister’s contentious resignation honours list, which saw Cameron initially accused of cronyism.
The 32-year-old worked for the former Tory leader for more than a decade and is hotly tipped to win the by-election on October 20.
Natasha Whitmill is widely tipped as the hot favourite for the Tory safe seat
Cameron commands an almighty 25,155 majority in the safe Tory seat and the West Oxfordshire Conservative Association will announce their candidate tomorrow.
The association will chose from a list of “local candidates” but sources have revealed Mrs Whitmill is “the hot favourite” to take the candidacy.
The nomination has been dubbed a 'stitch up' by certain sources
Former ministers such as Esther McVey were said to be in the running including Eurosceptic Dan Hannan.
But Mrs Whitmill is said to be the “preferred candidate and has let that be known”.
It’s a Cameron stitch up to keep any Eurosceptics off the list
A source added: “It’s a Cameron stitch up to keep any Eurosceptics off the list.”
She previously served as an “agent” during Cameron’s 2015 General Election campaign in one of the safest Tory seats.
Theresa May praises David Cameron's economic legacy
Cameron was blighted with allegations of cronyism last month after revealing his resignation honours list.
Labour Shadow Cabinet minister Jon Ashworth blasted: “Not only has David Cameron blown £12 million of taxpayers cash on gongs, goodies and peerages for his pals he’s now trying to parachute his spin doctor into his old seat.”
He added: “This type of behaviour sadly gives political service a bad name.”
