Scots have cheapest car insurance in UK
DRIVERS in Scotland pay the least on average for car insurance of motorists anywhere in the UK - despite premiums soaring by 12 per cent in the past year.

However, while they may be happy financially, on the road it is a different matter with those behind the wheel in Glasgow being the most prone to road rage incidents.
According to research carried out by insurance market experts Consumer Intelligence, drivers north of the Border pay on average £562 to insure their vehicles.
This compares to their compatriots in the North West of England and London who spend as much as 50 per cent more than the national average of £1,177..
Younger motorists are paying an average £1,831 - although prices for under-25s are rising more slowly at 9.4 per cent.
Meanwhile, the over-50s are seeing annual increases of 15.3 per cent although their bills are just £348.
Ian Hughes, chief executive of Consumer Intelligence, said: "The latest increase in Insurance Premium Tax which takes effect next month as well as rising claims are driving the rise in premiums.

"We are seeing a real acceleration in shopping around.
"All customers need to ensure they are receiving the best value for money from their insurer which should be easier as providers need to make it clear what last year's premium was when they send renewals."
He added: "Under-25s who pay the highest average premiums at £1,831 need to seriously look at black box technology as a way of limiting price rises but can take some comfort from the fact that prices are still lower than they have been."

Liverpool, however, was the calmest driving city with just 16 per cent regularly feeling angry behind the wheel, compared to 35 per cent of Glaswegians. The YouGov poll commissioned by Ikano Bank surveyed 2,086 UK drivers and compared them with their counterparts across Europe.
The study found Swedish drivers were the calmest and Italians the most prone to road rage, with UK drivers coming second.
Simon Ripton, head of direct to consumer at Ikano Bank, said: "In the UK, we have long been famous for our capacity for waiting patiently in queues but these results show that we could learn something from Sweden."
