A BUILDING in the capital was evacuated today after a 'suspicious' package was found - which turned out to be a CLOCK that is sold on Amazon.

The novelty device, which was shaped like a bundle of dynamite with a timer on it, was discovered in Brentford this afternoon.
Roads in the surrounding area were closed as police investigated.
However, Hounslow MPS in a tweet later revealed: "Officers attended a call to #Brentford believed to be a suspicious package, turned out to be a clock sold on Amazon".

The tweet was later deleted minutes after it was originally posted.
The force afterwards posted that the situation had been "dealt" with and roads would open soon afterwards.
People on Twitter took to social networking sites after the device was found.

Tweeter Lauren Rolfe posted: "Oh no!Been evacuated because of suspicious package in building.Possibly explosive.#dramas #brentford".
While another person added: "Some major police operation in #Brentford, near #Kew. Lots of police, fire trucks and ambulance."

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Police were called shortly after 14:10hrs on Friday, 24 June to reports of a suspicious item at a residential address on Kew Bridge Road in Hounslow.
"Officers, including specialist officers, attended.
"The incident was stood down at 15:45hrs and the item deemed non-suspicious.
"A small number of residents were evacuated as a precaution.
"Local roads were temporarily closed and have since reopened."
