Duke and Duchess of Cambridge join the Queen for the first time at Chelsea Flower Show
THE Duchess of Cambridge led the Royals on a day out as they visited the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.
It was the first time Kate has attended the show
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II also attended the event, a highlight in the royal calendar, as she visited a floral arch made in her honour.
Well-dressed Kate, 34, turned heads in a Catherine Walker coat dress, made of Venetian wool in a bright emerald green, paired with her favourite nude heels.
Prince William, 33, also attended the Royal Horticultural Society event, but it was the first time for the Royal couple due the prior engagements on previous years.
A spokesman for Kensington Palace said: “This year the diary has worked out fine and especially in the Queen’s 90th year, Their Royal Highnesses were keen to join her.”
The Queen's birthday is a key theme this year
One display the pair will no doubt have been eager to see is the Rossano Charlotte chrysanthemum, which was named after Princess Charlotte by Dutch company Deliflor.
Prince Harry, 31, who has previously been involved in the show, also attended the green-fingered occasion which was established in 1913.

The Queen opted for a pale-blue tailored coat with a matching pastel, floral dress, and greeted Sir Nicholas Bacon, President Royal Horticultural Society.
The show stopper piece of the day was the incredible 21 foot floral arch, containing 10,000 pastel blooms, made in the Queen’s honour.

Her milestone birthday is a key theme this year, and the grounds also boast a three metre high, two-and-a-half tonne tribute containing 10,000 colourful flowers in the shape of the Queen’s head.
Accompanied by Prince Philip, the monarch took a tour of the gardens, at the Royal Hospital, to take in a display of 5,000 poppies.

The Countess of Wessex, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Anne and Princess Alexandra were all at the show, and the Royal party will attend private reception at the newly named Queen Elizabeth II Pavilion.
