GCSE pupils left baffled after 'business studies question' appears in biology exam
BAFFLED GCSE pupils have hit out after what looked like a business studies question appeared in a biology exam.
Pupils have complained after what looked like a Business Studies question was on a Biology paper
The question in the AQA Biology exam asked students to define an “independent company” - and within hours of pupils finishing more than 100,000 posts on social media appeared on the matter.
Jack Green, 16, a pupil at South Hunsley School in North Ferriby, East Yorkshire, said students were concerned their grades would suffer because they thought the exam was markedly different to the syllabus they had been taught.

AQA has defended the questions
I don't have a clue what that had to do with biology
He told ITV News there had also been a question about alcoholic drinks.
He said: “It was like 'what is a teenage boy's favourite drink?' I don't have a clue what that had to do with biology.
“They were making out like it was a mistake, the guy on the phone said that something went wrong.
“It's stuff that we've never been taught and that's not the teachers' fault, it's the exam board's fault because they didn't tell the teachers to teach us it.”

However, AQA said the question about the independent company was about drug trials while the drinking question concerned alcohol abuse.
A spokesperson said: “Exams aren't meant to be easy and students are obviously going to tweet about that, but there was nothing wrong with this paper.
“We wish everyone the best of luck with the rest of their exams.”
