Kings Cross station evacuated after fire alert declared
KINGS CROSS Tube station in London was closed and evacuated this morning following a fire alert.
Passengers were evacuated due to a fire alert
Officials insisted the emergency was not terror related.
However, commuters, on high alert after yesterday's terror attack on the Brussels Metro system and the city's airport, ran from the station after the alarm was sounded.
An eyewitness, who was on the Tube at the time of the alert at around 11.30am, told Express.co.uk: “After yesterday, this was genuinely terrifying.
“Never seen people run for the doors before.

"I helped a woman with crutches get up the stairs, there was genuine panic. It went very quickly from eye rolling and inconvenience to everyone being scared and hurrying out."
London Fire Brigade vehicles could be seen at the scene.
Eyewitnesses said people ran for the doors following the alert
The incident happened on the Victoria line.
Ben Hooke tweeted: "King's Cross evacuation due to a 'fire alert' certainly had a few people on the Victoria Line fairly jittery."
British Transport Police played down the alert, tweeting: "Station evacuated following a fire alarm activation. Nothing suspicious and the station is now reopening."
Kings Cross is now understood to be fully open.
Transport for London reported there was also an earlier fire alarm at Holborn, which is causing major delays on the Picadilly line.
