Police detective working on child abuse investigation charged with child sex offences
A SENIOR detective who was working in a child abuse investigation has been charged with child sex offences.

Detective Constable Chris Maitland works in the Metropolitan Police’s sexual offences, exploitation and child abuse command.
Scotland Yard said the 40-year-old faces a total of 14 charges.
Mr Maitland will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday to answer to the charges.

Two charges relate to sexual touching a girl aged under 13.
The police detective is charged with five counts of making an indecent image of a child and a further seven counts of making an indecent image of a child.
Mr Maitland was initially arrested in November on suspicion of possession and distribution of indecent images of children.
Mr Maitland will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday
A Scotland Yard spokesman said he was arrested again on Tuesday on suspicion of sexual touching.
He is currently in custody.
The veteran police officer has also been suspended from duty.
