Commuters 'crushed' as Seven Sisters tube station evacuated amid rush hour chaos
COMMUTERS have been evacuated at Seven Sisters Tube following a Victoria Line signal failure.
There is severe overcrowding on the Victoria Line today
There are severe delays on the Victoria Line due to a signal failure at Victoria, and commuters at the London Underground station have reported being ‘crushed’ at the station.
According to a Twitter user, "people were screaming " for emergency exits to be opened as the tube station, Highbury & Islington became heaving.
London Underground has said that tickets are valid on local buses, South West Trains and Southeastern services.
Seven Sisters Tube Station was closed between 8.43am and 8.59am as to prevent overcrowding following signal failure at Victoria and a defective train at Vauxhall.
Delays also at Walthamstow tube station
The Vicar's Husabnd tweeted a video of the evacuation, saying it was the "first time" he had even been evacuated from the tube.
There were also delays this morning on the District Line as passengers refused to leave a defective train.

Delays at Severn Sisters tube station
Many commuters had their journeys disrupted this morning following a signal failure

One woman tweeted: "District line is at a standstill, because of a load of passengers refusing to get off of a train.... What's that all about?!"
One Twitter user, @Raven_x_o reported "crushing near the escalators" at Seven Sisters.
Commuter, Tasha Demi, tweeted: "Maddest journey into work today thanks to Seven Sisters and the Victoria Line. People getting crushed on escalators and then evacuated."
Seven Sisters has now reopened with crowd control measures in place.
Steve Griffiths, Chief Operating Officer at London Underground said: “I apologise for the disruption caused to our customers using the Victoria line this morning.
This was caused by a signal failure at Victoria station and has now been resolved by our technical staff. To ensure the safety of our customers, Seven Sisters was closed for a short time to prevent overcrowding at platform level.
We will be refunding customers who were affected by the delays.”
