THE Prime Minister is tomorrow set for a series of panic last-ditch meetings over EU renegotiation after revelations he could ask for an “emergency brake” on benefits to European immigrants.

A frantic day of meetings in Brussels for David Cameron will start with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, ahead of next month’s EU summit.
After hurriedly cancelling meetings with the Danes and Swedes, the PM will also have dinner with European Council President Donald Tusk on Sunday ahead of his final letter to European heads next week with recommendations on Britain’s renegotiation.

With the latest poll of polls showing the outcome of an in-out referendum at 50/50 in the UK, the meetings were seen as a desperate attempt to reach a deal so Mr Cameron can recommend Britain stays in the EU.
