Hayley Blackler, 31, started to pile on the pounds after the tragic death of her mum Pam in 2008.
Tipping the scales at more than 17st and struggling to squeeze into a size 24 dress, she loved nothing more than tucking into a Christmas Day feast.
But one day, while looking at her collection of festive photos, Hayley was mortified by one picture of her proudly holding an enormous juicy roast turkey.
She recalled: “That was the moment when I thought, ‘Enough is enough’. I was so embarrassed when I saw it. I went bright red and couldn’t help but cringe.

The incident kick-started her weight loss and after she ditched takeaways in favour of homemade meals, Hayley slimmed down to a trim 10st.
Shop assistant Hayley, from Teignbridge, Devon, was rocked when her mum lost her battle with cancer.
At the age of 24, she became guardian to her brother Connor and sister Romany.
Hayley admits she turned to food for comfort added the weight after gorging on a family-size bar of chocolate or bag after bag of crisps.

She said: “My priorities changed and I became more concerned making Connor and Romany happy than I did about my size and appearance.”
Back in January, Hayley made the resolution to lose weight. Now a size 10, she will still be tucking into her favourite festive treats – but will not be going back for thirds.
“Connor and Romany couldn’t be prouder of their not-so-big sis,” said Hayley.
“Our house will be full of tins of chocolates and naughty nibbles, but this year I will limit myself to a few as a treat rather than munching my way through it all.”
