Thousands of youngsters wearing CHRISTMAS JUMPERS smash world record
THIS is the adorable moment thousands of pupils donned their Christmas jumpers to smash a world record – but scrooges at Guinness are yet to verify the achievement.
As many as 1,431 pupils and staff dressed up in their Christmas jumpers today
A whopping 1,431 pupils and staff at Haslingden High School in Lancashire gathered together to simultaneously don their Christmas knitwear
But the youngsters won’t find out until February if the festive feat has been recognised by officials.
Newly appointed Head of Christmas Jumpers teacher Kate Sieg-Hogg, said: "Everybody at the school took part, that's over 1500 students and around 100 staff.
"Mine is a Mrs Claus jumper so it's red and white with a couple of little jingle bells."

Broadway Primary School next door was also invited to join in the fun and brought 150 children round to spread the festive cheer.

Teacher Suzanne Ridgway, who helped organise the event, said: "We are all delighted to have set a new World record.
"We've really smashed it and everyone is thrilled with the achievement.
"It's our last day of term too so it's a great way for everyone to start the Christmas holidays with a bang."

The school beat the previous world record set by Loughborough University when 1,175 staff and students wore their Christmas jumpers on campus as a fundraiser.
Before that, the record number of people in festive garb was a mere 639 set by mobile phone company Three in 2013.
The event is just one of many organised by the school to celebrate their 40th anniversary.
