Brave Alton Towers crash victim Leah Washington meets idols One Direction
A BRAVE teenager who lost her leg in the tragic Alton Towers rollercoaster crash has met her idols One Direction.

Leah Washington had to have her leg amputated after a crash on the Smiler ride which left five people in total seriously injured.
Chart-toppers 1D offered to meet the 17-year-old, who is a massive fan of the boyband, after a Twitter campaign called on One Direction to contact her.

The teenager posted a series of pictures of her with 1D on social networking site Twitter.
One of the images had the caption: "These past three nights have just been amazing! Getting to meet One Direction has just been an unreal experience".

After the tragic Smiler crash in June, One Direction star Louis Tomlinson offered his thoughts to Leah.
At the time he tweeted: "Thinking about you Leah & hoping you are home in South Yorkshire soon Xx."
Ms Washington and Mr Pugh were among five people seriously injured in the Smiler crash.

And a fifth victim, Chanda Singh, suffered internal bleeding in the incident on June 2.
It took firefighters, police and paramedics four-and-a-half hours to free the 16 people who were trapped on the ride.

The emergency services had to build a scaffold tower after the crash left victims trapped 25ft off the ground at a 45 degree angle.
The rollercoaster was shut down after the crash which left a total of 16 people hurt.

Alton Towers was closed for five days in the aftermath and lawyers have said the seriously injured victims could receive millions of pounds in compensation.
The theme park has since reopened and has offered free tickets because some rides were closed.
