Hunt for woman who dumped KNIVES near Parliament after trying to get into restricted area
POLICE are hunting a woman who tried to get into a "highly restricted area" in Westminster before dumping two knives in a scarf.
A woman dumped two knives near Parliament in February
She left the weapons on a wall after police refused to let her into the secure zone, which is protected by iron gates.
The woman had draped a scarf around the knives, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Officers have now launched an appeal to track her down after the terrifying incident.
Police have released CCTV footage of a woman they are trying to identify
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "At around 3.30pm on Tuesday 24 February, a woman asked a police officer for access to a highly restricted area, but was refused.
"Detectives believe this is the same woman recorded on a nearby CCTV camera at around the same time.
"Ten minutes after her first approach she returned to the secure area but again did not gain admission.
"Later a scarf, police believed to be carried by the woman, was found on a nearby wall wrapped around two large knives."
He added that it is not being linked to any other incidents.
