A mechanic restores the first Ford Mustang - but it took 28 years
A MECHANIC has spent 28 years meticulously restoring one of Britain’s first Ford Mustangs to its former glory.
Frank with his pride and joy, a 1964 Ford Mustang
Frank Middleweek, from Woodford, Essex, is the proud owner of a pre-production 1964 model – one of three shipped to nearby Dagenham to promote the car’s launch.
He first bought the vehicle from a friend in 1987 after falling in love with it – and it is now worth £100,000.
Frank, married to wife Terry for 45 years, said: “It’s a piece of history. I’ve always been into classic US cars and this is iconic. People stop and stare wherever you go.”
