Oxford Circus station forced to shut as anti-Islamic State protestors block barriers
OXFORD Circus tube station was shut down this afternoon after a group of anti-Islamic State protestors blocked ticket barriers.
The pro-Kurdish group was spotted holding signs supporting the town of Kobani in Syria, where forces have clashed with the militant group.
Earlier today IS raised its flag over a building in the town, which sits near the country's border with Turkey.
One protestor's sign read: "Kobani needs your voice NOW!"
Another said: "Kurdistan is no buffer zone for Turkey."
In a video posted on Vine by Richard Main, the group can be heard chanting: "Unite against Isis!"
The US has carried out air strikes on attacks on IS targets in Syria, although the UK has limited its action to Iraq.
The station is now reportedly open again.
