Parents lose EIGHT days a year in bedtime battles with children
PARENTS spend the equivalent of eight days a year in bedtime battles with their children, a survey reveals.
Rather than a peaceful goodnight, many youngsters come up with a range of excuses against lights-out.
These include needing the toilet to the more inventive “I’m expecting a phone call”. Parents spend on average 32 minutes each evening getting them to sleep – a total of eight days a year.
Four in 10 have to return to their children’s bedroom a further three times, walking 60ft a night – the equivalent of climbing Big Ben each week.
They say it is the most stressful time of day, even more than the pressures of work or the daily commute.

Half of mums and dads who took part in the survey by OnePoll said they found it particularly difficult getting their offspring back into the bedtime routine after the summer holidays.
Update
To help encourage kids into bed or reward good behavior, parents can now text a new Disney call service to arrange for their children to receive a special goodnight call from four much-loved characters including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Cinderella and Jake the Never Land Pirates.
Anna Hill, Chief Marketing Officer at Disney UK said: “As a mum, I know how tiring bedtime can be after a long day. We hope giving parents the chance to ‘phone a friend’ to help will help make it a calmer, more restful and, ultimately, more magical occasion for the whole family.”
