Clegg takes time for TV cake and tequila despite GAZA and UKRAINE crises
NICK Clegg was pilloried yesterday for appearing on a TV chat show discussing cooking and hitting out at parliamentary traditions.
I think the whole thing has become a complete farce
As news outlets focused on the Ukraine plane crash and Gaza bloodshed, the Deputy Prime Minister was seen live on air drinking tequila.
He helped Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer cook an avocado cake after arriving with empanadas which he admitted his Spanish wife Miriam mostly cooked.
During the show, Mr Clegg was scathing about Prime Minister’s Questions, saying: “I think the whole thing has become a complete farce.”
Tory MP Peter Bone said Mr Clegg showed himself “out of touch with democracy” by carping about the sessions.
A spokesman for Mr Clegg said he had not missed any crisis meetings to take part.
