Man who let Baby P die 'becomes Muslim' to protect himself from prison attacks
A MAN jailed over the death of 17-month-old Baby P has converted to Islam to protect himself from prison attacks, it was reported today.
Jason Owen has reportedly become a Muslim and carries a copy of the Koran with him everywhere in an effort to stop attacks from fellow inmates.
Owen is believed to have adopted the religion to gain protection from powerful Muslim prisoners at Stafford Prison, according to The Sun on Sunday.
A source told the paper: "He changed his faith about two months ago and is growing a beard.

"Everybody knows what he did to that little boy.
"He's always with a few other guys.
"There are about 30 Muslim prisoners in the jail and I think he's converted so he gets some protection from them."
The 42-year-old was jailed in 2009 for causing or allowing little Peter Connelly to die and served half of his six year sentence.
He returned to prison last April for breaching strict conditions of his release.
Owen along with the child's mother Tracey Connelly and her boyfriend Steven Barker were jailed for the death of Baby P in August 2007.
The child suffered more than 50 injuries including a broken back and ribs during an eight-month period before he died in London.
Little Peter had repeatedly been seen by Haringey Children's services and NHS health professionals prior to his death.
