Christmas warning: Hamleys' toy store says children's festive favourites are selling out
WITH seven weeks until the big day, one major store is already warning some of its must-have Christmas toys are quickly selling out.
Hamleys in London gave the warning as it unveiled its 10 favourite toys children most want to find in their Christmas stockings.
One hot favourite is a robotic puppy which barks, whimpers and performs tricks at the sound of a human voice.
The Teksta puppy, which costs £75, can be trained to sit and even perform a backflip thanks to its “state-of-the-art artificial intelligence”.
Another “pet” in the top 10 is the £14 Robo Fish, already one of the fastest-selling toys of all time.
As soon as the fish is dropped into a bowl it starts to swim, thanks to a sensor on its body which detects the water.
And, in a blast from the past, a new generation of the Nineties Furby is set to take Britain by storm.
The £75 owl-like creature has been reinvented as the Furby Boom, a furry robot which speaks its own Furbish language, but learns English the more it is spoken to.
And stuffed toys can have their own health check with the £26 Doc McStuffins Doctor’s Bag, with thermometer, syringe and stethoscope.
Mark Drummond, of Hamleys, said: “Some obvious hotshot toys are emerging. The Teksta puppies have been huge sellers and we are already in search of more to meet demand. The Robo Fish is a really clever Christmas gift.”
