Beauty spot cordoned off after police discover BONES in woods
POLICE cordoned off a remote beauty spot in Shropshire today after they found BONES hidden in the woodland.
The remains, which were found in woods at Sweeney Mountain near Oswestry in Shropshire, have now been taken away to establish whether they are human.
A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said: "Police in Shropshire have confirmed they have cordoned off an area of woodland at Sweeney mountain near Oswestry as they investigate the discovery of bones in the area.
The investigation into the discovery is at a very early stage
"Searches will now be taking place in the woodland during the course of the day and forensic officers will be attending the scene to try to establish what exactly has been found.
"Although work is ongoing at the scene, the investigation into the discovery is at a very early stage and officers believe it is likely to be some time before they establish who or what the bones relate to.
"We have sent the bones off for forensic tests but we will not know the results of this for some time."
