Moment mosquitoes have BBC's Louise Minchin for breakfast
A BOX of hungry mosquitoes had a BBC television studio buzzing yesterday when they were accidentally released live on air by presenter Louise Minchin.
The comedy moment made Louise, 44, collapse in giggles as she interviewed an expert on the blood-sucking insects for BBC Breakfast.
Dr James Logan, of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, was explaining how recent muggy weather had created perfect conditions for mosquitoes.
Louise and Bill Turnbull, her co-anchor on the morning show, agreed to put their hands into a plastic container filled with mozzies to test if they are more attracted to some people than others.
Me and mosquitoes have a very bad relationship
But her arm pulled away a netting sleeve intended to stop the creatures escaping and they flew into the studio.
She said: "Oh no," covered her mouth in disbelief and was overcome with laughter.
She joked: "Me and mosquitoes have a very bad relationship."
Co-host Bill quipped: "Anybody got any fly spray?" He added: "I think we'll probably leave it there."
The camera cut to the BBC News studio, where newsreader Simon McCoy was seen pretending to frantically swat mosquitoes.
