Max Clifford to wait until 2014 for trial for alleged indecent assualts on teenage girls
CELEBRITY PUBLICIST Max Clifford will stand trial next year accused of 11 indecent assaults on teenage girls.
The 70-year-old PR guru, who did not appear for a hearing at the Old Bailey yesterday, has pleaded not guilty to charges arising from Operation Yewtree’s probe into Jimmy Savile and others. The counts relate to seven alleged victims, aged 14 to 19, between 1966 and 1985.
Clifford, arrested in December and charged in April, must appear for a case management hearing on October 4.
The trial is expected to take place in March and last for four weeks.
Known for representing celebrities such as Simon Cowell, Clifford, of Hersham in Surrey, was yesterday in Spain for a charity golf tournament.
Following a prior hearing, he said: “I’ve got to prove the allegations are totally without foundation, which they are.”
