Footballers Gary and Phil Neville's father faces sexual assualt charges
THE FATHER of former England footballers Gary and Phil Neville appeared in court yesterday accused of a sex attack on a 46-year-old woman.
Married Neville Neville, 63, is charged with sexually assaulting the woman at Bury, Greater Manchester, on March 23.
Looking tanned and wearing a dark suit, white shirt and blue tie, Neville stood to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
No plea was entered and the case will open at Bolton Crown Court on July 1.
Neville left court without comment but his solicitor Simon McKay said: “He denies the allegation fully. Beyond this, because the matter is proceeding to trial, there can be no further comment.”
Neville is a former cricketer who played for Greenmount in the Bolton Cricket League during the 1980s.
He has three children.
Gary and Phil both achieved fame with Manchester United and England, while his netball-playing daughter Tracey is Phil’s twin.
Phil was Everton captain and Gary is now an England coach and TV pundit.
Neville’s wife Jill, 61, is general manager of Bury Football Club.
