Beauties on the beach and the temperatures are rising
BAKING BRITAIN is about to get hotter – with a sizzling two-week burst of summer.
Temperatures are expected to soar to 80F (27C) by Friday and possibly higher at the weekend.
Forecasters said the blue skies could even hold out for up to a fortnight – after thermometers started rising at the weekend with highs of 72F in London.
Met Office forecaster Helen Chivers said: “It is going to be a lovely week, everybody is going to have plenty of sunshine.
“There may be the odd bit of cloud and showers about but you will be really unlucky to get anything more than that.”
Jonathan Powell, forecaster for Vantage Weather Services, said parts of the South could see the mercury rise to 80F by Friday.
He explained: “We are expecting a major heat spike – with possibly the best spell of weather of the summer.”
The warm temperatures are partly due to warm air from the Continent. And the sun was already shining brightly yesterday as five finalists of Miss England 2013 took to the beach at Torre Abbey Sands at Torquay, Devon.
