A hot tub in the back garden is a must-have
THEY may once have had a slightly risque image but now a hot tub in the back garden is a must-have in even the most genteel homes across Britain.
One in 10 homes now owns these outdoor spas. In the West Midlands, it’s one in five.
Next comes London and the South-east, with 12 per cent ownership, according to a survey of 2,000 home owners by Lloyds TSB Insurance.
Nick Clamp, editor of WhatSpa magazine, said: “More and more people are buying them for the health benefits, for stress relief and better sleep.”
Michael Cahill, a dentist in Bolton, said: “One of the great advantages is that you can’t have laptops or iPhones in there so it’s peaceful and a great way to escape the 21st century.”
Tim Cooper, 25, from Hartley Wintney, Hants, said: “There’s nothing quite like the sun setting on you in the hot tub while you unwind with a cold beer.”
Prices range from a few thousand pounds to more than £25,000.
