Farm hunt for body of missing actress Janet Brown
POLICE yesterday searched remote farmland for the body of a TV extra who went missing before she could claim her parents’ £1million estate.
Janet Brown, 45, was last seen in 2005 when filming ITV drama Distant Shores.
She travelled regularly so friends were not concerned when she failed to return home to Hexham, Northumberland, after the shoot.
But fears grew when her mother Olive, 79, died in 2007 and her accountant father Eric, 80, the following year. Despite inquiries worldwide, detectives drew a blank.
Northumbria Police said: “We’ve come to a point that we believe she’s dead.”
A 59-year-old Tynedale man was arrested in December on suspicion of murder and bailed.
He had previously been held with four others on suspicion of fraud after alleged irregularities relating to the bank account of Miss Brown’s late parents.
