X-ray reveals Ed Miliband has broken wrist
LABOUR leader Ed Miliband had an operation on his wrist yesterday – 10 days after he broke it.
Mr Miliband, 43, suffered the injury while hill-walking with his wife, Justine, in Devon. However, it was only when he had an X-ray on Friday that a break was discovered.
On his doctor’s advice, he returned to hospital yesterday for a minor operation to re-set the wrist, his spokesman said. Mr Miliband expressed his thanks to the staff at University College Hospital in London who treated him.
“Thanks to all of the brilliant, friendly, dedicated staff today at University College Hospital who helped treat my broken wrist #lovetheNHS,” he tweeted.
He was said to be recuperating with his family in his north London home last night. The injury will not affect his attendance at the funeral of Baroness Thatcher on Wednesday.
It has been a tough week for Mr Miliband who came under attack from former Prime Minister, and ex-Labour leader, Tony Blair, over his welfare policies, warning him not to drift to the left. Mr Blair’s henchmen – Peter Mandelson, David Blunkett, Alan Milburn and John Reid – have also criticised the current party leader.
