Why music turns us on
LISTENING to great music is as good as sex, say scientists.
It stimulates the same part of the brain triggered by a delicious meal or a romp between the sheets.
Scans taken at McGill University in Montreal showed areas of the brain’s pleasure centre became active when volunteers heard a song they liked.
Researcher Dr Robert Zatorre told Science magazine: “This is interesting because music consists of a series of sounds that have no inherent value but when arranged together can act as a reward.”
