Birds flock to Swindon hotspot
THOUSANDS of starlings hover over a town centre to keep warm during the bitter cold weather.
The swarm of birds, known as a murmuration, were escaping the freezing countryside for the warmer urban air.
Experts say the relentless cold weather has forced them from their rural habitat.
They were spotted above Swindon, Wiltshire, creating a spectacular pattern in the evening sky.
Stewart Dobson, of the Wiltshire Ornithological Society, said: “Because it is so cold they have come into the town to get yet another couple of degrees of warmth.
“It is incredible how they never collide.”
