Beware her squiggle: Margaret Thatcher noted disapproval
MRS Thatcher developed a distinctive way of showing her disapproval on briefing notes.
She indicated her annoyance at an aide’s policy suggestion by drawing a squiggly line next to it in felt tip.
Her annotation style remained amazingly consistent over the years
Historian Chris Collins said it was not uncommon to see two or three squiggly lines next to an especially bad idea.
He said: “Her annotation style remained amazingly consistent over the years and I think this reflects how she changed very little as a person from the age of 25 onwards.”
